The Legacy of Root to Fruit

I come from a non-religious background, but I was raised by parents who constantly put others before themselves. Their life's work revolved around setting up large, agriculture-based cooperatives in developing countries on behalf of the UN and UNESCO. They empowered local populations to cultivate the earth and make a living—a literal manifestation of moving from root to fruit.

My own spiritual journey began quietly. I went to boarding school for sixth form and shared a room with a Christian. We became close friends, went on to study Product Design at university together, and it was there, living together, that I was baptised. Yet, after university, our paths diverged. Life accelerated, and without a community to anchor me, I entered what I can only describe as the "wilderness."

Gathering Arbitrary Gifts

I spent years struggling to find my footing. I worked low-paid temp jobs, often on weekends, which kept me entirely disconnected from any church community. I tried repeatedly to read the Bible (the KJV), but the archaic language formed an impenetrable wall. I simply did not understand it, so I put it down.

Over the following decades, I lived the life of a single parent. I gathered an eclectic mix of skills just trying to survive: learning computer graphics, desktop publishing, journalism, marketing, and eventually putting myself back through university to graduate with a 1st class degree in programming. I also endured deep financial and emotional losses—losing a house after trusting employers, failing to find a career foothold, and working gruelling physical shifts as a packer for Amazon and a picker in a freezer warehouse until an injury forced me out.

I had the ability to make others wealthy, but I never became wealthy myself. Looking back, I believe that was protection. If I had become wealthy, I would not be the person I am today; I would never have noticed the opportunity to see the light in a much deeper, heart-felt way.

The Silent Struggle

Everything changed when my father passed away. My mother, whom he had been married to for over 60 years, was left alone and vulnerable with Alzheimer's. I immediately moved in to care for her. This sacrifice—living on a carer's allowance with barely £40 of disposable income a month—stripped away my social life, but it preserved my sanity and, incredibly, gave me the quiet space I needed to work on my laptop by her side.

Through a volunteer centre, I met someone who invited me back to church. It was there that I made a startling discovery: as I began talking to other Christians, I realised that many of them didn't truly understand the Bible either. No one likes to admit they do not understand what they are reading.

I knew exactly what that silent frustration felt like. When my son went through a rough patch, I desperately wanted him to turn to the Bible for wisdom, so I wrote an article specifically for him, relating ancient scripture to his modern struggles.

A Life's Vocation

That single article was the spark. I realised that my entire "wilderness" period was not wasted. Every arbitrary skill I had gathered—design, coding, writing, marketing—and every hardship I endured had perfectly equipped me to build a bridge for others.

Through my research, I have come to a profound realisation: I believe the Bible is perfect, and within it lies the wisdom to overcome most of the world's problems today. It is the ultimate guide to life, with its teachings often closely mirroring the best principles of modern therapy.

I began translating the Bible into language that is easier to grasp, physically typing it out to retain the knowledge, and building this website from scratch. My vocation is to make the Bible accessible, so that non-believers and struggling believers alike can relate it to their modern-day scenarios without fear or embarrassment.

I have poured thousands of hours into this platform while sitting beside my mother. I believe this circumstance is God's plan, and I am entirely at peace. This site is the culmination of my journey—an invitation for you to explore the roots of faith so you might bear the fruit of peace in your own life.
