There are moments in life, aren't there, when you catch a glimpse of something so vast, so profound, it simply takes your breath away? Paul, trapped in a Roman prison, writes to the Ephesians, not about his personal discomfort, but about an "unsearchable richness of Christ" and a "mystery that for ages past was kept hidden" (Ephesians 3:8-9). This isn't just a theological nicety; it's the very blueprint of God's redemptive plan for a broken, fragmented world and for your equally fractured heart.

What is this stunning mystery? That God's grace isn't limited to a select few, to "us" and not "them." No, the radical, earth-shattering truth is that people from every tribe, tongue, and nation are called to be fellow heirs, fellow members of the same body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel (Ephesians 3:6). Think about that for a moment. God's plan for humanity is fundamentally about reconciliation and boundless inclusion, a unity so profound it displays His multi-faceted wisdom to the heavenly realms!

But let's be honest, that's often not how we live, is it? We are experts at shrinking God's grand design down to the size of our own fears, preferences, and prejudices. We crave comfort in what is familiar, security in what is controllable, and validation from what is visible. We build fences—mental, emotional, spiritual—around our communities, our families, and even our own hearts, declaring, often subtly, that God's inclusive love couldn't possibly extend that far, or include that person, or strengthen this weak part of me. We operate as if the peace we long for, the worth we desperately seek, and the strength we need must be self-generated.

The lie whispers: "My worth is in my performance. My peace is in my political alignment. My security is in keeping 'them' out. My strength is in my own resilience." And what happens when we listen to these lies? Our hearts grow anxious, isolated, and weary. We become cynical, defensive, and judgmental, blind to the beauty of God's radical inclusivity and deaf to the power of His indwelling Spirit. We forget that the walls we build, whether around our nation or our ego, are an affront to the very gospel we claim to believe.

• When the global news cycle inundates us with conflict, our instinct is often to retreat into tribalism, despairing of true peace because we refuse to see beyond nationalistic divides to God's vision of one body.
• When social media paints a curated picture of perfection, we fall into the trap of toxic comparison, allowing fleeting trends and superficial judgements to diminish our self-worth, rather than being rooted in Christ's immeasurable love.
• When newcomers arrive in our communities, speaking different languages or holding different customs, fear often trumps hospitality, and we build invisible walls rather than embracing them as potential "fellow heirs" and "members of the same body."
• When chronic illness or a difficult diagnosis leaves us feeling helpless and drained, we often believe we must somehow muster the strength ourselves, forgetting that God's Spirit is strengthening us with power in our inner being, even when our physical bodies fail.

But here's the glorious, heart-stopping truth: it's not about your capacity; it's about His. Paul's prayer for you is not that you try harder, but that you would be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (Ephesians 3:16-17). This strength, this dwelling, this immeasurable love – it’s a gift, purchased by Christ's finished work on the cross. You have bold and confident access to God not because you earned it, but because Jesus secured it.

So, cease from your striving. Stop trying to earn peace, generate worth, or manufacture strength. Instead, lean into the staggering reality that you are deeply, unequivocally loved by a God whose power at work within you is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Let your identity be so profoundly rooted and grounded in Christ's immeasurable love that the lies of this world, the anxieties of conflict, and the exhaustion of sickness lose their grip. You are included. You are loved. You are empowered. And that, dear friend, changes everything.
