COLOSSIANS

The book of Colossians is a letter written by the Apostle Paul while he was in prison. It was sent to a community of Christians in the city of Colossae. The main reason Paul wrote this letter was to strongly emphasise that Jesus Christ is absolutely supreme and sufficient for everything a believer needs. There were false teachings spreading in Colossae that were trying to combine elements of Jewish law (like special diets or holidays), worship of angels, and mysterious "secret knowledge" with Christianity. These teachings were diminishing Jesus' unique and ultimate role. Paul explains that Jesus is the Creator of all things, the head of the church, and the one through whom God has reconciled the world. He urges the Colossians to focus only on Christ, reject these misleading philosophies, and live a new life transformed by Him, marked by love, forgiveness, and wisdom. Essentially, Colossians reminds us that Jesus is all we need, and nothing should come before Him.
