EZEKIEL: CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2 describes God commissioning Ezekiel as a prophet. God empowers Ezekiel with His Spirit and instructs him to deliver a challenging message to the people of Israel. God acknowledges that the Israelites are a stubbornly disobedient and rebellious nation, both now and in the past. He warns Ezekiel not to be afraid of their resistance, no matter how harsh or hostile they might be. God assures Ezekiel that even if the people refuse to listen, they will still recognise that a true prophet has been among them. Finally, God commands Ezekiel to accept and "eat" a scroll containing messages of sorrow, mourning, and judgement, symbolising his complete reception of God's difficult message.
