HAGGAI

The Book of Haggai is a short but powerful message delivered by the prophet Haggai to the Jewish people who had returned to Judah from exile in Babylon. After returning, their initial enthusiasm for rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem faded, and they prioritised building their own homes. God, through Haggai, strongly urges them to restart the work on His house, connecting their current struggles—like poor harvests and lack of prosperity—directly to their neglect of the Temple. The book emphasises God's desire for His house to be rebuilt, promising His presence and future blessings if they obey. It highlights the importance of prioritising God's work and trust in His plans, culminating in the people’s renewed commitment to the Temple project.
