PSALMS: CHAPTER 11

Psalm 11 is David’s fearless song of confidence when urged by fearful companions to flee like a panicked bird to the mountains because 'the foundations are destroyed' and the wicked are secretly aiming arrows at the upright. Refusing to succumb to despair, David grounds his peace not in earthly circumstances, but in the reality that the Lord is in His holy temple and His throne is firmly established in heaven. God sees every struggle, tests the righteous with loving intent, and will ultimately pour righteous judgement upon violence, for 'the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.' This psalm speaks directly to modern anxiety, teaching us to reject panic and fix our eyes on God's unchanging sovereignty when cultural foundations seem to tremble.
