EZEKIEL: CHAPTER 22

Chapter 22 of Ezekiel delivers a powerful message of judgement against Jerusalem, which God refers to as "the bloody city." Through Ezekiel, God outlines a long list of the city's terrible sins, including widespread violence, idolatry, disrespect for parents, mistreatment of foreigners, orphans, and widows, profaning holy things, breaking the Sabbath, and various sexual immoralities. God specifically calls out the corrupt leaders: the princes act like wolves, shedding blood for personal gain; the priests ignore God's laws and don't teach the difference between holy and unholy; and the prophets spread lies and false visions. God declares that because of these pervasive sins, He will gather the people of Jerusalem and melt them down like worthless metal in a furnace, pouring out His furious judgement upon them. He emphasises that He looked for someone to stand up and defend the land but found no one, leaving Him no choice but to unleash His wrath and destroy them for their evil ways.
