MARK: CHAPTER 2

Mark Chapter 2 highlights Jesus' remarkable authority and how it challenged the religious traditions of his time. The chapter begins with Jesus demonstrating his power to forgive sins by healing a paralysed man, sparking a debate among religious leaders about who has such power. Next, Jesus calls Levi, a tax collector, to follow him, and then shares a meal with many tax collectors and others considered "sinners," which again draws criticism from the Pharisees. Jesus responds by explaining he came to help those who realise they need change, not those who think they are already perfect. The chapter concludes with Jesus answering questions about why his disciples don't fast and why they "break" Sabbath rules, using parables and examples to explain that his new message doesn't fit into old, rigid ways of thinking, and that the Sabbath was made to benefit people.
