JOEL

The Book of Joel, meaning "The Lord is God," delivers a powerful message through the prophet Joel to the people of Judah. It primarily addresses a catastrophic locust plague and severe drought that has devastated the land, destroying crops, vineyards, and bringing widespread suffering. Joel interprets this disaster as a vivid warning and a prelude to "The Day of the LORD"—a future time of God's judgement and purification for His people, and retribution against the nations. He calls for sincere repentance, fasting, and a solemn assembly, urging everyone from the elders to the priests to mourn and turn back to God. The book then shifts from judgement to a hopeful promise of restoration. God promises to heal the land, provide abundant blessings, and most significantly, to pour out His Spirit upon all people.
