PSALMS: CHAPTER 3

This psalm is a personal prayer from David when he was in a very dangerous situation, specifically when his son Absalom was trying to overthrow him. He feels completely surrounded by enemies who mock him and doubt that God will actually help him. Despite the huge number of people against him and their discouraging words, David shows strong trust in God. He believes God is his protector and source of dignity. He remembers how God has always listened to his prayers, allowed him to rest peacefully even in danger, and will ultimately defeat his foes. The psalm finishes with a confident statement that rescue and blessings come only from God and are for all His followers. It’s a powerful example of holding onto faith during extreme trouble.
