JEREMIAH: CHAPTER 11

Chapter 11 of Jeremiah reveals a powerful message from God to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. God reminds them of the special agreement, or covenant, He made with their ancestors when He rescued them from slavery in Egypt. He accuses the current generation of completely ignoring this agreement, repeating the mistakes of their forefathers by worshipping other gods and refusing to listen to His warnings. Because of their rebellion and betrayal, God declares that He will bring severe punishment upon them—a disaster they won't be able to escape. He warns that when they cry out for help, He will not listen, nor will their false gods be able to save them. The chapter also exposes a secret plot by Jeremiah's own neighbours in his hometown of Anathoth, who are trying to silence and kill him for prophesying. God promises that He will harshly punish these plotters.
