EXODUS: CHAPTER 24

Chapter 24 details the formal sealing of the covenant between God and the people of Israel at Mount Sinai. Moses presents God's laws to the Israelites, who unanimously agree to obey. A ceremony is then performed, involving an altar, twelve pillars, and sacrifices, with the blood used to ratify the agreement. Moses then reads the covenant terms to the people, who reaffirm their commitment. Following this, Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders are called higher up the mountain, where they witness a vision of God and share a meal in His presence. Finally, Moses is commanded to ascend further to receive the stone tablets containing God's laws, and he goes into a cloud covering the mountain for forty days and nights.
