GENESIS: CHAPTER 1

Chapter 1 of Genesis describes the initial six days of creation, in which God meticulously formed the universe from a state of formless emptiness. Each day, God spoke things into existence through His powerful word: first, light; then the sky; next, dry land and plants; followed by the celestial bodies like the sun, moon, and stars; then sea creatures and birds; and finally, all land animals and humanity. The narrative emphasises God's sovereign power, the orderly and deliberate progression of creation, and His repeated judgement that everything He made was "good," culminating in humanity being created in God's own image and given responsibility over the earth.
