JAMES: CHAPTER 3

James Chapter 3 focuses on the powerful and often dangerous impact of the human tongue. It explains that although the tongue is a small part of our body, it has immense power, comparing it to a small bit that steers a horse or a tiny rudder that guides a huge ship. The chapter warns that the tongue can be like a destructive fire, capable of causing great harm and even coming from evil itself. It points out the contradiction that the same mouth can praise God and curse other people made in God's image, calling such behaviour unacceptable. The chapter then shifts to contrast two types of wisdom: worldly wisdom, which leads to jealousy, conflict, and chaos, and heavenly wisdom, which is pure, peaceful, gentle, merciful, fair, and sincere, leading to good actions and peace.
