JAMES: CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4 of James tackles the root causes of conflict and spiritual immaturity among believers. It highlights that arguments and disagreements stem from selfish desires within us. James explains why prayers go unanswered (wrong motives) and warns against seeking friendship with the world, which is seen as unfaithfulness to God. He emphasises the importance of humility, urging believers to submit to God, resist the devil, draw near to God, and repent of their divided loyalties. The chapter also strongly condemns slandering others and judging fellow believers, reminding them that only God is the ultimate Judge and Lawgiver. Finally, it addresses arrogance about future plans, stressing the uncertainty of life and the necessity of acknowledging God's will, concluding with a powerful statement that knowing what is good to do but failing to do it is a sin.
