MARK: CHAPTER 7

Chapter 7 of Mark primarily focuses on Jesus' teachings about true purity and several healing miracles. It begins with a conflict between Jesus and the religious leaders (Pharisees and scribes) over their traditions, especially the ritual washing of hands. Jesus criticises them for prioritising human rules over God's commands and explains that defilement comes from within a person's heart, not from external things like food or unwashed hands. He then performs two significant healings: first, he casts a demon out of a Gentile (Syrophoenician) woman's daughter, highlighting the power of faith beyond the Jewish community. Second, he miraculously heals a deaf man with a speech impediment in the Decapolis region, demonstrating his authority over physical ailments.
