MATTHEW: CHAPTER 15

Matthew Chapter 15 presents Jesus in conflict with the religious leaders of his day over their traditions that overshadowed God's commands, particularly regarding ritual purity. Jesus teaches that true spiritual defilement comes from evil thoughts and actions originating from the heart, not from external practises like ceremonial handwashing or types of food. The chapter then shifts focus to Jesus's compassion and power beyond Jewish boundaries, as he travels to Tyre and Sidon and commends the extraordinary faith of a Gentile (Canaanite) woman, healing her demon-possessed daughter. Finally, the narrative concludes with Jesus once again demonstrating his miraculous ability to provide, feeding a crowd of four thousand people in a remote area with only a few loaves and fish, followed by many healings.
