LUKE: CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4 of Luke marks the beginning of Jesus' public ministry following his baptism. It starts with his forty-day temptation by the devil in the wilderness, where Jesus successfully resists three major tests by quoting Scripture. After this, Jesus returns to Galilee, full of the Holy Spirit's power, and begins teaching in synagogues, earning widespread praise. He then visits his hometown of Nazareth, where he publicly declares his mission by reading from the prophet Isaiah, stating that he is the one sent to bring good news, healing, and freedom. However, his hometown rejects him, becoming furious and attempting to throw him off a cliff. Jesus miraculously passes through them and goes to Capernaum, where his powerful teaching and ability to cast out demons and heal the sick (including Simon's mother-in-law) amaze everyone. The chapter concludes with Jesus continuing to preach the good news of God's Kingdom throughout Galilee.
