NAHUM: CHAPTER 1

Chapter 1 begins by introducing the prophet Nahum and immediately sets a tone of serious warning for Nineveh, though the city isn't named until later in the book. It primarily focuses on describing God's awesome power and His unwavering character. God is portrayed as intensely protective of His honour, slow to anger but absolutely just, powerful over all creation, and entirely determined to punish evil. The chapter emphasises that no one can withstand His fury, yet it also offers comfort, declaring Him a safe haven for those who seek Him. It hints at the complete destruction of Nineveh and promises an end to the suffering of God's people, Judah.
