1 CHRONICLES: CHAPTER 10

1 Chronicles Chapter 10 recounts the tragic death of King Saul and his sons on Mount Gilboa during a catastrophic battle with the Philistines. The chronicler bypasses Saul's earlier military victories to focus squarely on the theological reason for his demise: Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord, broke God’s word, and sought counsel from a medium instead of seeking guidance from the living God. As a result, the kingdom was transferred to David, the man after God’s own heart. This chapter offers a sobering warning against trusting in occultism, human panic, or personal pride during crisis, calling us to cultivate an uncompromising, steadfast habit of seeking the Lord alone in prayer and obedience.
