ESTHER: CHAPTER 7

Chapter 7 marks the climax of Esther's plan to expose Haman. During the second banquet, King Ahasuerus again prompts Esther to reveal her request. Esther, courageously, pleads for her life and the lives of her people, revealing that they have been condemned to destruction by an unknown enemy. When the king demands to know who this individual is, Esther identifies Haman as the wicked plotter. The king, enraged, storms out into the palace garden. Haman, terrified, begs Esther for mercy. Upon the king's return, he misinterprets Haman's desperate plea as an assault on Esther, and immediately orders Haman's face to be covered, a sign of imminent execution. An attendant then informs the king about the towering gallows Haman had built for Mordecai. The king swiftly orders Haman to be hanged on his own gallows, bringing an end to Haman's evil scheme and pacifying the king's wrath.
