ESTHER
The Book of Esther tells the captivating story of a young Jewish woman named Esther who becomes queen of the Persian Empire. She and her older cousin, Mordecai, uncover a sinister plot by Haman, a high-ranking official, to annihilate all Jewish people across the vast kingdom. Risking her own life, Queen Esther courageously approaches King Ahasuerus to plead for her people's survival. Through a series of surprising twists and turns, where God's providence is clearly at work even though His name isn't explicitly mentioned, Haman's wicked plan is thwarted. Haman faces justice, and the Jewish people are saved and given the right to defend themselves. This dramatic rescue leads to the establishment of the joyous festival of Purim, which is still celebrated by Jews today.
