EZEKIEL: CHAPTER 7

Ezekiel Chapter 7 delivers a powerful and urgent message from God, declaring that "the end" has definitively arrived for the land of Israel. It's a prophecy of total and inescapable destruction, emphasising that God's judgement is imminent and will be poured out without mercy because of the people's widespread sins, idolatry, and violence. The chapter describes the coming desolation in stark terms: famine, plague, and the sword will affect everyone, from those in the fields to those in the cities. Wealth, like gold and silver, will become utterly worthless, unable to save or satisfy anyone. Even sacred places will be defiled by foreign invaders. There will be no escape, no peace, and no reliable guidance from prophets, priests, or elders. The leaders and the common people alike will face despair and humiliation. The overarching purpose of this severe punishment is for Israel to finally understand that the Lord is the one delivering this judgement, a direct consequence of their wicked ways.
