GENESIS: CHAPTER 36

Genesis Chapter 36 provides a detailed record of Esau's family line, also known as Edom. It outlines his wives, their children, and the various clans and tribal leaders (dukes) that descended from him. The chapter also describes the original inhabitants of the land Esau settled, called the Horites, and lists their leaders. Finally, it presents a succession of kings who ruled in Edom before the Israelites had their own monarchs. This chapter essentially establishes the origins and initial leadership structure of the Edomite nation, which originated from Esau, Jacob's brother.
