HEBREWS: CHAPTER 8

Chapter 8 of Hebrews explains why Jesus is a far better and more important high priest than any priest who came before him. It highlights that Jesus serves in a perfect, real holy place in heaven, which God himself created, not a temporary, human-built temple on earth. The chapter then argues that the old agreement (or covenant) God made with people through Moses had weaknesses and was never meant to be permanent. Because of these flaws, God promised a completely new and superior agreement. This new agreement, brought about by Jesus, involves God putting his laws directly into people's minds and hearts, ensuring everyone will know Him personally, and offering complete forgiveness for all their mistakes. Ultimately, this means the old covenant has become outdated and is ready to be replaced entirely by the new, everlasting one.
