AMOS: CHAPTER 6

Amos Chapter 6 harshly condemns the wealthy and powerful leaders in both Judah (Zion) and Israel (Samaria) who live in excessive luxury and feel completely safe, ignoring the troubles around them. God announces that these complacent people, who indulge in lavish feasts, expensive oils, and music while their nation suffers, will be the first to face severe punishment. Their extravagance will end, and God, who despises their pride and opulent homes, will completely destroy their cities. The chapter describes a terrible plague or widespread death, where bodies must be quickly removed and survivors are too terrified to even speak God's name. It concludes by highlighting Israel's perversion of justice and their foolish pride in their own strength, declaring that God will send a foreign nation to oppress them throughout their land.
