EPHESIANS: CHAPTER 2

Ephesians Chapter 2 explains how everyone, both Jewish and non-Jewish people, was once spiritually lifeless because of their bad decisions and rebellion against God. We all lived selfishly, influenced by evil forces, and were headed for God's judgement. But because God is so incredibly loving and merciful, He brought us back to life with Jesus Christ. This amazing rescue, called salvation, is a free gift from God that we receive through faith; it's not something we can earn by doing good deeds. In fact, God specially created us to do good things He planned for us long ago. The chapter then focuses on how non-Jewish people (Gentiles) were once completely separated from God's chosen people (Israel) and had no relationship with God or any hope. But Jesus, through His death, broke down the wall that separated Jews and Gentiles, bringing them together into one new unified group. He brought peace and made both groups right with God. Now, both Jewish and non-Jewish believers can come directly to God the Father, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are no longer outsiders but are like full family members in God's household, built together as a holy place where God lives by His Spirit, with Jesus Christ as the most important foundation stone.
