JOSHUA: CHAPTER 5

Joshua Chapter 5 details several crucial events that happened right after the Israelites entered the promised land of Canaan by crossing the Jordan River. It begins by showing how terrified the local kings were after hearing about God's miracle at the Jordan. Then, the chapter describes a mass circumcision of all the Israelite men born in the wilderness, renewing their covenant with God. Following this, they celebrate the Passover for the first time in the new land and God stops providing manna, as they can now eat the produce of Canaan. The chapter concludes with a mysterious and significant encounter between Joshua and a divine commander, who prepares Joshua for the upcoming conquest of Jericho.
