EXODUS: CHAPTER 15

Exodus Chapter 15 records the joyful celebration of the Israelites after God miraculously delivered them from the Egyptian army by parting the Red Sea. The first part of the chapter is a magnificent song of praise, led by Moses and the men, then echoed by Miriam and the women. This "Song of the Sea" celebrates God's unmatched power as a divine warrior, His crushing defeat of Pharaoh's forces, and His faithfulness in protecting His people. It also expresses the expectation that God will lead them to His holy dwelling place. The second part of the chapter shifts to the start of their journey through the wilderness, where they quickly face a challenge: finding only bitter water at Marah. God shows Moses how to make the water sweet, establishing a law and a promise of health if they obey Him. The chapter concludes with the Israelites finding a refreshing oasis at Elim.
