LEVITICUS: CHAPTER 9

This chapter describes the very first day that Aaron and his sons officially began their duties as priests for the Israelites, following God's specific instructions. Moses guided Aaron to offer special sacrifices, first for himself to make things right with God, and then for all the people. These offerings included different animals and grains to cleanse sins, dedicate things to God, and establish peace. As a powerful sign of God's acceptance and presence, His glorious splendour appeared before everyone. Miraculously, a fire came directly from the LORD and consumed the sacrifices on the altar, causing the people to respond with shouts of awe and worship.
