2 CHRONICLES: CHAPTER 17

This chapter tells us about King Jehoshaphat, who became king after his father Asa. Jehoshaphat was a good king who followed God's ways, just like his ancestor King David. He made his kingdom strong by setting up defences and stationing soldiers. He also worked to make sure everyone in Judah learned God's laws, sending teachers and religious leaders throughout the land. Because Jehoshaphat honoured God, God blessed him greatly. Neighbouring kingdoms were afraid to attack him, some even brought him gifts, and he became very rich and powerful. The chapter ends by describing the huge and well-organised army Jehoshaphat commanded.
