2 SAMUEL: CHAPTER 9

King David, remembering a promise he made to his dear friend Jonathan, searches for any remaining family members of the former King Saul. He finds a servant named Ziba, who tells him about Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth, who cannot walk well. David brings Mephibosheth to his palace. Instead of treating him as an enemy, David shows Mephibosheth incredible kindness: he gives him back all the land that used to belong to Saul and invites him to eat at the king's own table every single day, just like one of David’s own sons. David also commands Ziba and his family to work the land to provide for Mephibosheth.
