EXODUS: CHAPTER 9

Chapter 9 of Exodus describes three more of God's powerful actions against Egypt because Pharaoh wouldn't release the Israelite people. First, a deadly sickness strikes all the Egyptian farm animals, but none of the Israelite animals are harmed. Next, a terrible skin disease with painful sores breaks out on people and animals throughout Egypt, even affecting Pharaoh's own wise men. Finally, God sends an incredibly destructive hailstorm, unlike anything Egypt had ever seen, which crushes crops and kills any person or animal left outside. Pharaoh seems to give in and promises freedom for the Israelites, but as soon as the hail stops, he becomes stubborn once more, refusing to let them leave, just as God had predicted. This chapter shows God demonstrating His immense power and Pharaoh's continued defiance.
