EZRA: CHAPTER 9

Ezra Chapter 9 describes Ezra's intense sorrow and powerful prayer after learning that the people of Israel, including priests and Levites, have once again disobeyed God's commands. They had married foreign women from the surrounding pagan nations, despite being warned against such practises that led to their earlier exile. Ezra is overwhelmed with shame and distress, tearing his clothes and expressing profound repentance on behalf of the nation. He confesses their ongoing sin, acknowledges God's incredible mercy in bringing them back from exile, and fears God's just wrath for their continued rebellion, recognising they have no excuse or defence.
