GENESIS: CHAPTER 18

Chapter 18 of Genesis tells the story of God appearing to Abraham near his home in Mamre. God, accompanied by two angels, visits Abraham in human form. Abraham, showing immense hospitality, quickly prepares a large meal for his guests. During their visit, the Lord reaffirms His promise that Abraham and his wife, Sarah, will have a son within the next year, despite both of them being very old. Sarah, overhearing from inside the tent, laughs to herself in disbelief, but the Lord challenges her doubt, emphasising that nothing is too difficult for Him. After the meal, the Lord reveals His intention to investigate the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah due to their severe sin. Abraham then bravely approaches the Lord, interceding for the cities. He begins to negotiate with God, asking if He would spare the cities if a certain number of righteous people were found there, gradually lowering the number from fifty all the way down to ten, demonstrating his concern for justice and the innocent.
