ISAIAH: CHAPTER 2

Isaiah Chapter 2 begins with a hopeful vision of the future, picturing a time when God's dwelling place will be the most important place on Earth. All nations will be drawn to it to learn His ways, leading to a world where there is no more war, and instruments of battle are transformed into tools for peace. The chapter then shifts abruptly to a severe warning for the people of Judah and Jerusalem. It highlights their sinfulness, specifically their pride, their reliance on worldly riches and military might, and their widespread practise of worshipping idols made by human hands. The prophet declares that a terrifying "Day of the Lord" is coming when God will bring down everything and everyone who is proud, powerful, or man-made, demonstrating His supreme authority. In their fear, people will abandon their worthless idols and seek refuge in the earth as God rises to judge the world, emphasising that true reliance should only be on the Almighty.
