REVELATION: CHAPTER 21

Chapter 21 of Revelation describes a powerful vision of a completely new creation, where the old world and sky have passed away. John sees a glorious new heaven and a new earth, and then the magnificent, holy city, New Jerusalem, descending from God Himself. This chapter emphasises that God will live directly among humanity, ending all suffering – there will be no more tears, death, sadness, or pain. The chapter details the incredible beauty and immense scale of this city, describing its walls made of jasper, foundations adorned with precious jewels, and gates crafted from single pearls. Crucially, it reveals that God and the Lamb are the city's central presence, serving as both its temple and its unending light, removing the need for sun or moon. The chapter concludes by stressing that only those whose names are recorded in the Lamb's Book of Life will be permitted to enter, ensuring perfect purity and righteousness within its walls.
