GENESIS: CHAPTER 3

This chapter details the story of the first human disobedience. A cunning serpent deceives Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, and she then shares it with Adam. Their eyes are opened, revealing their nakedness and shame, leading them to attempt to hide from God. When confronted, they deflect blame, first Adam blaming Eve and God, then Eve blaming the serpent. As a consequence of their actions, God announces curses upon the serpent, Eve (related to childbirth and her relationship with her husband), and Adam (regarding the difficult labour he will face from the ground). Finally, God provides them with animal skin clothing and expels them from the Garden of Eden to prevent them from eating from the Tree of Life and living forever in their new, sinful state.
