REVELATION: CHAPTER 22

Chapter 22 is the grand finale of the Book of Revelation, bringing to a close the amazing visions John was shown about the future. It starts by describing the beautiful New Jerusalem, where a crystal-clear "river of life" flows directly from God's throne, and the "tree of life" provides healing and constant fruit. In this new world, there will be no more sadness, pain, or darkness, because God Himself will be the light, and His followers will see Him face-to-face and rule with Him forever. The chapter then shifts to emphasise the absolute truth and importance of these prophecies, with an angel reminding John that these things will happen soon. John tries to worship the angel, but is quickly corrected: only God should be worshipped. Jesus Himself declares that He is coming back quickly and will reward everyone based on their actions. He identifies Himself as "the Alpha and the Omega," meaning the beginning and the end of everything. There's a clear invitation for anyone who is thirsty for spiritual life to "come" and take it freely. Finally, the chapter ends with a serious warning not to add or take away anything from the words of this book, ensuring its purity, and a final prayer for Jesus to return, along with a closing blessing.
