REVELATION: CHAPTER 20

Chapter 20 of Revelation describes a sequence of major future events. It begins with a powerful angel trapping Satan, the Devil, in a deep pit for a thousand years. During this time, special people who remained loyal to Jesus and God's word, even if it meant dying for their faith, come back to life and rule with Christ. This is called the first resurrection. After these thousand years, Satan is briefly set free and immediately tries to trick nations into a final battle against God's people, but God defeats them swiftly with fire. Satan is then thrown into a fiery lake of punishment forever. The chapter then moves to the final judgement, where everyone who has ever died stands before God. Their lives are reviewed, and those whose names are not recorded in God's special "Book of Life" are also cast into the lake of fire, which is called the second death. Even Death and the grave itself are thrown into this fiery lake.
