EZEKIEL: CHAPTER 37

Chapter 37 of Ezekiel presents two powerful prophecies envisioning the future restoration of the nation of Israel. The first part describes a vivid dream where God transports Ezekiel to a valley filled with countless dry, lifeless human bones. God commands Ezekiel to speak to these bones, promising that He will bring them back to life by reattaching muscles, flesh, and skin, and then breathing His spirit into them, transforming them into a vast living army. This vision symbolises God's promise to revive the seemingly dead hope and scattered state of the exiled Israelite people, bringing them back to their land with new spiritual life. The second part of the chapter involves Ezekiel performing a symbolic action with two wooden sticks. One stick represents the southern kingdom of Judah, and the other represents the northern kingdom of Israel (symbolised by Joseph/Ephraim). Ezekiel is instructed to join them into a single stick, signifying God's promise to reunite these historically divided kingdoms into one unified nation. This reunited Israel will have one king from the line of David, be cleansed from their sins, and live under an eternal covenant of peace with God, with His holy presence dwelling among them forever, demonstrating His glory to all nations.
