MARK: CHAPTER 9

Mark Chapter 9 records several powerful events and important teachings by Jesus. It begins with the miraculous Transfiguration, where Jesus' appearance is transformed on a mountain, and he speaks with Moses and Elijah, while a voice from heaven declares him God's beloved Son. Shortly after, Jesus heals a young boy possessed by a stubborn evil spirit, a task his disciples had failed to accomplish, leading to a lesson on the power of faith and prayer. Jesus then secretly predicts his death and resurrection for a second time, though his disciples struggle to understand. He later confronts his disciples about their argument over who was the greatest among them, teaching them about true leadership through humility and service, using a child as an example. The chapter concludes with Jesus warning against causing others to stumble in their faith, giving stark commands to eliminate anything that leads to sin (even metaphorically cutting off a hand or eye), and encouraging his followers to maintain their spiritual integrity and live peacefully with one another.
