LUKE: CHAPTER 9

Luke Chapter 9 begins with Jesus giving his twelve closest followers special powers and sending them out to spread God's message and heal people. News of Jesus's amazing actions reached King Herod, who was confused, wondering if Jesus might be John the Baptist risen from the dead. Later, Jesus miraculously fed five thousand men with only a small amount of food. When he asked his disciples who they thought he was, Peter boldly declared that Jesus was God's Anointed One. Jesus then told them he would soon suffer greatly, be killed, and rise again. He also taught that truly following him means being willing to sacrifice everything. A powerful event known as the Transfiguration happened on a mountain, where Jesus' appearance changed, and he spoke with Moses and Elijah, while God's voice confirmed Jesus as His beloved Son. Afterwards, Jesus healed a boy the disciples couldn't help. He continued to teach his followers about humility and the deep commitment required to follow him, as he began his steadfast journey towards Jerusalem, where he would face his ultimate destiny.
