EXODUS: CHAPTER 40

Exodus Chapter 40 describes the final preparations and the actual setup of the Tabernacle, God's portable sanctuary, exactly as the LORD had commanded Moses. It begins with God giving Moses specific instructions for arranging all the elements of the Tabernacle and its courtyard on a particular day. Moses then faithfully carries out every single instruction, from erecting the structure itself to placing the sacred items like the Ark, the Table, the Lampstand, and the Altars, and setting up the Laver. The chapter also details the anointing of the Tabernacle, its furnishings, and Aaron and his sons, consecrating them for their priestly duties. The narrative concludes with the glorious presence of the LORD, in the form of a cloud, descending upon and filling the newly completed Tabernacle, signifying His acceptance and dwelling among His people, and acting as their guide for their journeys.
