EZEKIEL: CHAPTER 43

Chapter 43 of Ezekiel describes a powerful vision where God's magnificent presence returns to the newly revealed temple, entering through the east gate. Ezekiel is overwhelmed by this sight, which reminds him of earlier visions of God's glory. God then speaks, declaring that this temple will be His permanent dwelling among the people of Israel and that His holy name must never again be dishonoured by their idolatry or improper practises, which had previously led to their punishment. He instructs Ezekiel to show the detailed plans of the temple to the Israelites, hoping it will make them ashamed of their past sins and inspire them to follow God's laws for this sacred place. The chapter concludes with specific instructions for the construction and purification of the altar for burnt offerings, detailing the exact measurements and the seven-day process of consecration with various animal sacrifices, after which the altar will be ready for regular worship and God's acceptance.
