MARK: CHAPTER 15

Chapter 15 of Mark describes Jesus' final hours, focusing on his trial before the Roman governor Pilate. Despite Pilate's attempts to release Jesus, the Jewish religious leaders stir up the crowd, who demand the release of a rebel named Barabbas instead and insist on Jesus' crucifixion. Jesus is then brutally mocked by Roman soldiers, forced to carry his cross, and led to Golgotha, where he is crucified between two criminals. During his crucifixion, darkness covers the land, and Jesus cries out before he dies. The temple curtain tears in two, and a Roman centurion acknowledges Jesus as the Son of God. Finally, a respected council member named Joseph of Arimathea courageously requests Jesus' body from Pilate and buries it in a rock-cut tomb.
