MARK: CHAPTER 16

Mark Chapter 16 is the breathtaking conclusion to Mark’s fast-paced Gospel, recording the triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ. Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bring spices to anoint Jesus' body, wondering who will roll away the massive tombstone. Arriving at the tomb, they find the stone already rolled back and encounter a young man dressed in a white robe, who announces the world-altering truth: 'He is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.' He specifically instructs them to tell His disciples 'and Peter'—a tender touch of restoring grace for the broken disciple. The chapter records Jesus appearing to His followers, commissioning them to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, before ascending into heaven to sit at the right hand of God while working with them through confirming signs. This chapter fills our hearts with unshakeable resurrection joy and launches us into confident witness for our living Saviour.
