PSALMS: CHAPTER 35

Psalm 35 is an impassioned lament and prayer for divine justice composed by David when facing baseless slander and malicious betrayal from people he had previously cared for in their sickness with fasting and sackcloth. Entrusting his cause to God as a heavenly warrior and righteous advocate, David prays that his accusers' malice may be exposed and halted. Even while groaning under unjust attacks, David repeatedly resolves to praise the Lord in the great congregation and celebrate God's joy in the prosperity of His servants. This psalm gives healthy voice to the deep hurt of betrayal, guiding the wounded soul away from toxic personal revenge and directing all emotional distress into confident trust that God will vindicate the upright in His own time.
