RUTH: CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2 opens with Naomi revealing that her late husband, Elimelech, has a wealthy relative named Boaz. Ruth, wanting to support herself and Naomi, asks permission to go to the fields and gather leftover grain. By a stroke of luck, she ends up in a field belonging to Boaz. Boaz notices her, inquires about her, and, upon hearing of her loyalty to Naomi, shows her immense kindness. He tells her to stay in his field, protects her, offers her water and food, and even instructs his workers to deliberately leave extra grain for her. Ruth returns home with a significant amount of barley, and Naomi, recognising Boaz's generosity, realises he is a close family protector, or "kinsman-redeemer." Ruth agrees to continue working in Boaz's fields through the entire harvest season.
