2 CHRONICLES: CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2 of 2 Chronicles details King Solomon's preparations for building the magnificent Temple for the Lord, as well as a palace for himself. It describes how Solomon organised a massive workforce, made up of both Israelite and foreign labourers, for the immense construction project. Solomon then sends a diplomatic message to Huram, the king of Tyre, requesting specific materials, particularly cedar wood from Lebanon, and highly skilled craftsmen. Solomon reminds Huram of the help he provided to King David, Solomon's father, for a similar building project. In exchange for these resources and expertise, Solomon promises substantial payment in food and supplies. King Huram responds positively, praising the Lord God of Israel for blessing David with such a wise son, and agrees to send the requested wood and an exceptional master craftsman. The chapter concludes with Solomon organising the foreign workers in Israel for the heavy labour and supervision roles.
